Book Description |
| The Life Savers follows young Harry Vandyne as he becomes involved with the brave men of the United States Life-Saving Service — the heroic forerunner of today’s Coast Guard. Stationed along a dangerous stretch of coastline, these surfmen risk their lives in storms, shipwrecks, and bitter winter seas to rescue those in peril. As Harry witnesses their discipline, courage, and selfless teamwork, he learns what true heroism looks like. Through daring rescues, gripping emergencies, and moments of moral testing, James Otis paints a vivid portrait of life on America’s storm-beaten shores and the men who stood ready day and night to save others. |
