About Author

Nnedi Okorafor is a Nigerian American author best known for her innovative work in Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Speculative Fiction, often drawing on African cultures, futurism, and mythology. Born in the United States to Nigerian Igbo parents, Okorafor’s writing is deeply influenced by both her African heritage and her experiences growing up in America. She studied creative writing and literature and later became a professor of writing and popular culture.

Okorafor gained widespread acclaim with novels such as Who Fears Death, Lagoon, and the award-winning Binti series, which helped popularize Afrofuturism and Africanfuturism within global speculative fiction. Her work frequently explores themes of identity, power, gender, colonialism, and transformation, combining rich worldbuilding with intimate, character-driven narratives. In addition to novels, she has written short stories and comics, including work for Marvel, and is widely regarded as one of the most influential voices reshaping contemporary speculative literature.
