| Richard of Jamestown follows young Richard Mutton as he departs England and journeys to the shores of Virginia during the founding years of the Jamestown Colony. Under the guidance of his master, Captain John Smith, Richard witnesses the perilous beginnings of England’s first permanent American settlement — from famine, illness, and conflict to moments of bravery, resourcefulness, and cooperation. Through the eyes of a boy learning responsibility and courage in a harsh new world, James Otis brings to life the struggles and hopes of the early colonists as they fight to survive and shape the future of a nation. |
