Tom Clancy (1947–2013) was an American author best known for pioneering the Techno-Thriller genre, combining detailed military, political, and technological realism with fast-paced suspense. Raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Clancy studied English literature and initially worked in the insurance industry before achieving literary fame with his debut novel, The Hunt for Red October (1984). The book’s meticulous depiction of submarine warfare caught the attention of both readers and military professionals, launching his career.
