Book Description |
| Martha of California: A Story of the California Trail follows the journey of a brave young girl who joins her family on the perilous westward trek to the Golden State during the mid-19th-century pioneer migrations. Through Martha’s eyes, readers witness the hardships and hopes of the trail — from dust-choked wagon ruts and river crossings to moments of friendship, courage, and discovery beneath the vast western sky. James Otis combines adventure, realism, and moral strength to portray the endurance and optimism of those who sought a better life in the American frontier. |
