| Corporal ’Lige’s Recruit tells the spirited story of young Seth Blakeman, a determined boy who longs to do his part during the Civil War. When he meets Corporal ’Lige — a seasoned, good-hearted veteran with a talent for shaping raw youth into reliable soldiers — Seth finds both a mentor and a challenge. Through drills, discipline, and unexpected danger, Seth learns that bravery is more than enthusiasm, and that loyalty and sacrifice are the true measures of a soldier’s worth.
