About Author

E. B. White (1899–1985) was an American essayist, novelist, and children’s author celebrated for his clear, elegant prose and gentle humor. Born in Mount Vernon, New York, White studied at Cornell University before becoming a longtime contributor and editor at The New Yorker, where his essays helped define the magazine’s literary voice.

White is best known for his classic children’s books Charlotte’s Web, Stuart Little, and The Trumpet of the Swan, which combine warmth, moral insight, and a deep respect for childhood imagination. In addition to his fiction, he coauthored The Elements of Style, a foundational guide to modern English usage. White’s work remains influential for its simplicity, humanity, and enduring literary charm.
