Book Description |
| Off Santiago with Sampson tells the gripping story of young Teddy Dunlap, a boy who stows away on a coal steamer bound for Cuba during the Spanish-American War, desperate to find his father. As the ship makes its way toward the blockaded Spanish fleet at Santiago Harbor, Teddy becomes bound up in historic naval conflict — the sinking of the Merrimac, daring torpedo missions, and deadly battles onboard U.S. warships. Amid the roar of cannon fire and the chaos of war, Teddy learns courage, loyalty, and what it truly means to risk everything for family. James Otis brings history to life with vivid detail, bravery, and a boy’s unshakeable heart. |
