Edward Stratemeyer (1862–1930) was an American publisher and writer, best known for creating several popular children’s book series. He founded the Stratemeyer Syndicate, which produced series like The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Tom Swift, and The Bobbsey Twins. Stratemeyer came up with the concepts, plots, and character outlines for these series, then hired ghostwriters to complete the books under his direction.
