About Author

Brit Bennett (born 1990) is an American novelist celebrated for her incisive explorations of identity, race, family, and belonging. Raised in Southern California, she studied English at Stanford University before earning an MFA from the University of Michigan, where she received the prestigious Hopwood Award. Bennett gained critical acclaim with her debut novel The Mothers (2016), followed by international success with The Vanishing Half (2020), which became a bestseller and a cultural touchstone for its nuanced treatment of racial passing and generational legacy. Known for her elegant prose and emotional precision, Bennett is regarded as one of the most influential literary voices of her generation.
